Sounds typical: Ringworm typically desquamates (peels) as it evolves, but it won't go away without treatment. Try one of the over-the-counter antifungal creams such as tinactin (tolnaftate) or lamisil. If that doesn't work it might not be ringworm, and you should consult a dermatologist.
