Malabsorption : Inability to absorb nutrients-malabsorption- can be caused by a bowel problem (inflammation or scarring), prior surgeries of the bowels, or an improperly functioning pancreas. A good, cheap test of absorption is a b12, iron, and vit d level. Certain meds can affect absorption like acid reducing meds(ppis). A stool elastase test is a good test for pancreatic insufficiency. Enzymes can be prescribed.
