Probably viral: Most bacterial infections are in one eye only. Viral commonly spreads to the other eye. Viral does not respond to ciloxan (ciprofloxacin) which can prevent secondary infection but your natural immunity is the best defense against viral. Check with your ophthalmologist to be sure that is the problem if you feel it is getting worse.

Viral conjunctivitis: Probably not a bacterial infection. Usually a viral infection starts in one eye and spreads to the other by self inoculation. The tears you are using are fine. The antibiotic, ciloxan, (ciprofloxacin) is ineffectual for a virus infection. Meticulous cleaning of the lashes with warm water with diluted baby shampoo, an eye decongestant like opcona can ease symptoms. Usually will recover 7-10 says. C md if not.
