Difficult Problem: Best option is not too get them in the first place. Once present, they can be very difficult to treat. Bottom line is the patient must reduce the time spent putting pressure on those areas. Surgery is often a very poor choice because of the high recurrence rates.

Several things...: Remove pressure, contamination and improve nutrition. Quality wound care on the site of some nursing homes is also optimal when they are complicated.
