Of course: Twilight anesthesia is very common around the world for most aesthetic procedures. It will really depend on you and your surgeon's preferences. Even though it is possible, it may not be right for you. Discuss it in detail with your experienced plastic surgeon. Be well, dr. Fred www.Cornerstoneplasticsurgery.Com.

Yes but..: The manner of anesthesia administered is determined by the length of the surgery and type of cosmetic surgery performed. Very short procedures can be done under a local and twilight anesthesia; however, longer operations are often best done with the patient being asleep. This is a safe method of keeping you comfortable while you receive lots of oxygen. The bottom line is your safety.

Local anesthesia: Yes it is possible to have local anesthesia and twilight. Local anesthesia is provided by injection into the area that the incision will be placed. This typically involves the use of Lidocaine with or without epinephrine. Injection of local anesthetic is commonly used with twilight and with procedures where general anesthesia are used.

For some procedures: Plastic surgery encompasses a wide range of procedures. Local with sedation can work very well for the right patient for procedures like eyelid lifts, but would no be recommended for tummy tucks (witch hazel).
