My dad had steroid shots in both knees last tuesday. blood sugar above 500 most of the time. a1c results are 10.9, could that be from the shots too?

No: A1c result is your average bs over the last 2-3 months. A1c of 10.9 means that you have been averaging somewhere in the 260-270 range in the last 2-3 months. The steroid shot is definitely causing your blood sugar to go higher now but the high a1c was not caused solely by the shot but by your overall blood sugar control. Please see your physician for an adjustment on your diabetes regimen.
