Coincidental: Koch spine is also called pott's disease (tb of spine), named for famous physicians. It is tuberculosis (TB) involving the spine. The trauma may have caused the initial pain, but the infection was either present (and silent) or developed later. Since TB is a slow process, it was probably there before the accident.
