A member asked:

L sided rib pain which intensifies when "burping" or lying down face up. no pain with standing or sitting. pain doesn't feel superficial but deep?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: On the left side are the ribs, chest muscles, the left lung, and the lining of the lung (pleura). Nearby are the esophagus, heart and arteries, stomach, spleen, pancreas, etc... So, pain can originate from many places. Sometimes there is a problem in a part of the body a little farther away, but the nerves carrying the pain signals can "refer" pain to the left rib cage or left upper abdomen.
