Good if well-used: Some radiation exposure is part of daily life and is essentially harmless. There is a threshold under which risks are negligible. Unecessarily increased radiation can be harmful. The benefits are great if used to detect a deadly illness that can be cured. Medically used radiation is beneficial in treating a cancer that has been diagnosed, in which case, benefits far outweigh risks.
