Pain and FUNCTION: As with consideration of any joint replacement the factors involved include pain that cannot be controlled and loss of function. This will depend on age and other risk factors involved, such as other illnesses, etc.

Few: Today, there are very few indications for an elbow replacement surgery (tea). Most patients with elbow arthritis can be treated conservatively. Others benefit from elbow arthroscopy and interposition arthroplasty. However, candidates for tea tend to do very well when appropriately selected and treated. See your doctor for an evaluation and referral if indicated.
