Yes and no: You never want to get a joint replacement if you don't have to, because it's never as good as the real thing. However, if your elbow is painful and arthritic, total elbow arthroplasty (tea) is a good option. Tea is also used when the joint is destroyed due to trauma and cannot be reconstructed.
