A member asked:

After tooth extraction what can i do for pain?

Your doctor should: Have prescribed you some analgesics to help control the pain. Taking advil (ibuprofen) or Motrin can also help (if you are not allergic to nsaids), but please consult with your dentist first so as not to over-medicate. Pain (severe) 24 hours or so after an extraction might denote a "dry socket" and will require management by your dentist.

Follow instructions: You should carefully follow the post-operative instructions given to you by your dentist such as salt rinse to keep the area clean, cold compress, resting and taking the prescribed pain medication and possible antibiotic given to you by your dentist.
