Cough: If you smoke stop. Ask your doctor to check your sinuses since that can be a cause of recurrent cough. If you work around strong fumes that can be a cause, if these are all ok have your doctor check for reflux, check a chest x-ray, check for allergies and lastly check for a immune deficiency.

Reflux: It sounds like reflux rather than a thyroid problem. Acid from your stomach can come up to your throat and cause irritation and cough. This can also give you the sensation that something is stuck in your throat. Try Prevacid (lansoprazole) otc (over the counter). Avoid spicy foods, tomatoes, onions, dairy and don't lay flat less than two hours before dinner.
