Difficult: When anyone gets ill they were usually contagious as much as two days prior so it is very difficult to prevent spread wiyhin a family. The baby may still have some of the immunity you gave it at birth but if you are ill then probably the baby is at risk for the same illness. Good hand washing will help as well as not drinking after each other but still very difficult not to spread it.

Some mgt suggestions: If you have a fever or flu like symptoms, I would suggest being tested so that you know if it is an illness caused by Strep or Influenza virus. The baby will be able to receive a flu vaccination at age 6 months. It is difficult to prevent but hand washing and not coughing/sneezing or blowing your nose near the baby may help as well.
