Walk: The way i advise my patients is simply to begin a walking program. Start at low levels by just walking around your block every day and then increase your distance every 3 weeks or so by about 10-20%. I also recommend yoga to most of my patients. Start with a very gentle beginners class. However, before starting any exercise program you should consult with your doctor.

Dance: I agree with dr. Rosenfeld re: walking. Another way to begin is to put on music in your house that you really love, that you used to dance to, and just gently move to the music. It will lift your spirits and help you get moving. Another tip is to actually wear something you would dance in---a leotard, skirt, etc. It can really make a difference!
