My dad doesn't have a spleen. since the removal of his spleen, he can't eat steamed cabbage without stomach pain. why is that?

Hard to explain.: Removing the spleen should have nothing to do with this. There may be some post surgical scarring which causes some gas trapping and subsequent discomfort. I would suggest reintroducing cabbage in very small portions gradually.
