Unusual: Any stress on the body, such as surgery, can prolong or alter the next menses. It would be unusual for a colposcopy to cause this. However, if a biopsy was performed, the biopsy site can bleed lightly, usually for a day or two. Prolonged bleeding should be addressed by the gynecologist.

No: A colposcopy should not affect your menstrual cycle. However, it is normal to have a little bit of bleeding from a colposcopy if you have a biopsy performed. So, if you had a biopsy towards the end of your cycle, you might have an extra day of bleeding.
