Mild, briefly: It is normal to have some vaginal spotting and cramping after a pap smear. If you are having a lot of pain, or non-period bleeding that is more than a little spotting, you should talk to a healthcare provider.

Sometimes: Some people do have some pain or cramps after a pap test. It shouldn't last more than a day or two, however. If you are continuing to have pain, see your doctor.
