Sometimes: Marinol may be used to treat loss of appetite in certain cases. It is also used to treat severe nausea and vomiting that is caused by cancer chemotherapy. Marinol is for use only when other medications have been unable to control the nausea and vomiting.

Others more common: Megace (megestrol) is often used more commonly for appetite stimulation than is marinol. Marinol is tough to dose in a patient specific manner and can cause more delirium and drowsiness than megace (megestrol). It is still used by some and now with marijuana legalization for medicinal purposes in multiple states there are many forms of fungus free options for patients who are not helped with more traditional meds.
