Sometimes: Depending on many factors, including intensity, frequency, and duration of the symptoms, psychotherapy alone can sometimes be enough for the patient's anxiety to subside. However, if the symptoms are so debilitating that work and social pursuits are greatly affected, medication with therapy is frequently the best course of treatment.
