A member asked:

Can pityriasis rosea be spread from person to person? what is the incubation period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Presume "no": The cause of pityriasis rosea is unknown, but it may be a virus (because sometimes several people get the rash around the same time). If it is due to a virus, the way it is transmitted from one person to another is also unknown. So, the rash is not considered contagious. It goes away by itself in about 6 weeks. If worried, or in a special situation, one should discussed it with his doctor.
