A member asked:

I just had a chalazion removed and wasn't given post op instructions. i currently have a patch on my left eye. what should i do?

Remove patch in AM: Keep lashes clean by gently washing with baby shampoo. Cool compresses help to keep swelling of healing down. Tylenol (acetaminophen) can be used for pain (avoid aspirin). It is rare to need an antibiotic as the lids have good circulation, but if the eyes have discharge, see the ophthalmologist for an evaluation. Any swelling or bruising should be gone within a week.
