Confused?: Most likely he is having what we call delirium , which is not uncommon among older people with a status post craniotomy.

Probably: Outcome after craniotomy is related to severity of the disease. A subdural hematoma that occurred suddenly can produce significant brain compression. Re-expansion during surgery is only part of observations that allows for prediction of outcome. Swelling noted on mri, associated brain injury, age of patient also play a role. 10 days may not be enough time to return to normal.
