Banding: Banding affects only the banded hemorrhoids. The external hemorrhoids are not affected unless the internal hemorrhoids were coming out to become external one.

Maybe: Banding is more effective for internal than external hemorrhoids. Usually it takes some time a few weeks for the external hemorrhoids to shrink.
