Experimental: Unproven and unlikely to work at this time. Hopefully in the future.

Unclear: Stem cell therapy is now being used in an experimental approach for severe COPD in an effort to regenerate lung tissue. There haven't been enough cases or time to know if this approach can be benefical. While theoretically appealing, results need to be assessed before it can be recommended.

Too early: Not enough data at all, very experimental. We don't know enough about stem cell therapy to be able to extrapolate this into copd.
