Abscess: Could be an abscess or worse if you smoke or chew tobacco. See you dentist or physician asap.

Probably an infectio: You could have bitten your tongue or this could be a fever sore... Any inflamatory change can cause a swollen gland... My guess is fever sore or cankersore... This is a self limiting condition that will go away by iteself... Use warm salt water rinses for comfort.. If you bit your tongue it may take longer to heal... If it doesnt feel much better within a week you must get to a dentist for an exam.
