Vaccines are key: The immune system can create protective antibodies after infections (igg) that help prevent re-infection. Vaccines are artificial infections that safely create igg. Strep. Pneumoniae is a bacteria that is responsible for up to 1/2 of all sinus and ear infections, the pneumococcal vaccine pcv-13 and pcv-23 can reduce the risk for s.Pneumo infections. Vaccine may not work: Getting a vaccination does not guarantee a good immune response. If frequent infections occur in a fully immunized person, an evaluation of the immune system can be done by blood work. If s. Pneumo. Antibodies are absent following immunization, this could indicate a more serious underlying "immunodeficiency". This problem should be investigated in those who have frequent ear or sinus infections.
