Midwives: There are two types of mid-wives, one is a nurse-MW and another is a lay-MW. Each is trained in delivery of infants, and in some regions can practice independent of a physician, but most consult with an OB/GYN physician during pre-natal and delivery situations. When deliveries are without complications, mid-wives do very well.
