A member asked:

What happens on the space of removed meniscscus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: Whether the meniscus is torn and left in the knee, or removed surgically, it's job to protect the cartilage is lost. The meniscus takes up little space (3-5 mm) between the femur (thigh bone) and tibia (shin bone). The other space seen on x-rays is made up of cartilage.
