Hormone changes: Irregular periods like you describe can be related to excessive estrogen state, anovulation (not releasing an egg), thyroid changes and other factors. See your physician and they can evaluate this further.

Irregular cycles: Indicate lack of ovulation. This can be due to stress. It is often associated with recent weight gain or loss. Usually it corrects itself. Eat healthy, get at least 7 hours of uninterruted sleep every night, and it should correct. If the bleeding is heavy or doesnt correct soon please schedule a check up.
