Many things: There are many causes of an abnormal MRI other than cancer. This list is not all inclusive but may give you an idea of the number of disorders causing an abnormality. Vascular causes include stroke , hemorrhage, a-v malformations, demyelination from ms, lymes disease, infectious causes, hiv, abscess, viral infections, metabolic disorders such as wilson's disease, leukodystrophies and age related dis.
