Should pet scans continue to be part of cancer surveillance?

Yes: Not every cancer should be followed with pet/ct. But when the cancer is visible by this technology, it is often helpful in treatment planning and follow up. Here is link: http://www.Petscaninfo.Com/zportal/portals/pat/cancer.

It depends: Pet/ct scan are very valuable in surveillance of certain types of cancers, but not all cancers. You should be able to google your type of cancer and pet/ct scans and find out.

Depends on cancer: It depends on the type of cancer - some are not well detected by pet. Also, the cancer stage and disease free interval should be used to determine the risk of progression. Pet/ct is a very useful tool in following many cancers for recurrence or metastasis.
