Type 1 diabetes: This disorder is one where the patients ability to create Insulin has been destroyed & an external source must be used to maintain the bodies metabolic needs. It tends to strike in middle childhood but can strike adults. It can be complicated by excess weight but is not caused by it.

Yes: Type one diabetes is always not due to weight, in fact. Type two diabetes is due to "increased weight" or obesity. type one results from genetic factors with an autoimmune reaction that attacks your pancreas until it produces no more insulin, among other things.
