No: Tv's intended to amuse and sell stuff, not inform. Epidemiologic data generates huge numbers of correlations that have nothing to do with causality. Cancer develops because genes mutate and cells bearing these genes are encouraged to grow; candy does neither, but the public wants to hear that things that are enjoyable are bad for them. Candy-chompers may have other bad habits like smoking.
