Minutes to Decades: Angioplasty is only a brief hydraulic expansion of a blood vessel, injures the vessel, promotes clots & further complicates underlying artery ds. Thus it all depends on what happens after the brief expansion. Flow, was a stent left in position, DES vs. Bare metal, all the factors which drive the disease process: lipoproteins (not cholesterol), hba1c, ≤5.0 optimal, sbp, ≤120 optimal, activity, etc.
