How do you know if you might have a deviated septum?

Breathing: Obstruction of airway in nose causes mouth breathing. Cover one nostril opening with thumb tip and breathe in. Then do same with other side. If air flow is easier on one side there is likely an obstruction from septum deviation. An ENT doctor can easily tell by looking up nose. Septal deviation is easily repaired usually with surgery and is indicated for health reasons.

Deviated septum: This can only be determined by physical examination. Be sure to have your nose evaluated by a board certified otolaryngologist.
