Treatment: Mastitis can be a difficult problem to treat and usually takes several months to do so. The key is to treat the acute abscess with drainage and antibiotics only. Once the acute infection has been treated, then surgery can be performed to remove the breast tissue causing the problem. This prevents unnecessary tissue removal and breast deformity. Find a breast specialist for best results.
