How serious a condition are blood clots in the legs?

Can be very serious: I am assuming the blood clot in the leg is in the vein. Also known as a deep venous thrombosis (dvt). A DVT in a worse case scenario can be life threatening and/or limb threatening. Another less severe type of blood clot in the leg could be in the superficial venous thrombosis (svt). In order to better answer your question can you give me more details about the clots in the leg?
