RAST vs skin tests: The reason allergists prefer skin tests to rast tests is because the skin tests show your body's biological response to allergens. Rast tests only measure the amount of antibody and do not predict its clinical binding and symptom-provoking abilities. That said, no test is perfect. All have to be compared to your experience and correlated with your history. Allergists spend more time doing this.
