Yes: Arthritis comes in different varieties, but most types of arthritis cause symptoms in more than just one joint. However, just because a person has arthritis does not mean his next joint pain must be caused by arthritis. Other causes of joint pain can occur, so he should see his primary care doctor or rheumatologist for an evaluation.

You bet: Your propensity for arthritis may have been genetically predetermined. As such, all your joints have presumably been subjected to similar stress and activity equally. So wear and tear can occur in multiple locations simultaneously. Question is, why do you have arthritis? Could be rheumatoid, lyme's, or multiple others. See a doc if significant.
