Long-term benzos: The most obvious side effect is becoming physically and/or mentally habituated to these medications -- such that stopping them becomes very difficult. Depending on the dose, they can cause memory problems, especially trouble learning new information. General sedation, impaired coordination, slowed response time, poor concentration, sometimes irritability and impulsivity, & depression.
