Chronic diarrhea: Diarrhea caused by a virus usually lasts a short time; its persistence is caused by complete loss of enzymes (lactase, amylase, lipase) needed for digestion. Chronic nonspecific diarrhea of childhood may last several weeks. Both conditions, however, eventually resolve. To lessen the diarrhea, fluids drank warm or at room temperature is preferred, as well as binding foods (rice, etc), &fatty foods.
