Common: Very common occurrence after having a root canal. Speak to your dentist about ways to correct it and make it more esthetically pleasing.

See Dentist now: If the work is 16 years old now, it probably has lost its water-tight seal. It may be forming a new cavity inside it. Have your dentist check it right away. Often there are some quick treatments to make it look better.

See your dentist: Usually after years to have a color change means that there is leakage into the tooth/ root canal. Does the tooth have a crown on it?

Crown!: Root canal teeth often tend to get darker with age, but also brittle and more prone to fracture. My suggestion is to find a cosmetic centered dentist (ask yours first), match the shade of the adjacent teeth and have that dentist fabricate a crown that matches the shade of the adjacent teeth. Not only is you color problem solved, but your tooth will be stronger.
