Ovarian Mass Work Up: Ovarian mass presents a special diagnostic challenge, in part because benign etiologies greatly outnumber malignant ones. Determination of a degree of suspicion for malignancy is critical & is based largely on imaging appearance. Ultrasound is the most practical modality for initial assessment, while MRI is more accurate & can be performed when US is nondiagnostic or equivocal.
