Can be: If the ultrasound is set to high, it will cause pain to the area. Make sure that you do not have pain when the ultrasound is administered.

No: The purpose of ultrasound is too make you feel better. Ultrasound is also not a painful procedure at all. Unless the technician or doctor has a very heavy hand and was overly aggressive in moving the probe around. Even, then though it really should not hurt......
