Gum Recession: Gum recession results from a number of causes- plaque buildup, bruxism, poor dental restorations, food impaction, overzealous tooth brushing, calculus formation, premature tooth contacts, and periodontal disease are some of the more common causes. The gums shrink away from their attachment to the tooth, exposing the root surface.

Movement: Gingival (gum) recession is the movement of the gingiva down towards the root tip exposing the root surface. When gingival recession occurs, there is also subsequent loss of bone surrounding the roots.

Recession of Gums: Hey there... Recession is when the curved margin of the gum tissue or gingiva arches higher away from the enamel portion of the tooth, sometimes exposing the very sensitive junction between the enamel and cementum (root tissue). It can be caused by poor brushing technique with toothbrush bristles that are too hard (always use soft or extra soft bristles) or by clenching the teeth together

Gum Recession: This is a pretty common problem, and it’s caused by untreated gum disease. The gum tissue that surrounds your teeth pulls back and exposes the roots. This causes pockets between teeth and gums where bacteria can build up. Untreated, it can damage the supporting structures and lead to tooth loss. If your teeth are sensitive or you just feel that something is wrong, contact your dentist.
