A 21-year-old member asked:

Are there any natural supplements or shampoos that can kill lice?

Dr. Karen Sibert
Anesthesiology 39 years experience
Not really: If you want to kill lice, then you will need a shampoo that has a chemical insecticide in it. It is possible to eradicate lice without using one, but it would require great dedication to check the whole scalp daily for live insects, and comb the hair strand by strand to remove the tiny white eggs (nits). The over-the-counter medicated shampoos are very safe, and i think they are a wiser choice.

Is foam or a wipe or baby shampoo best for cleaning sensitive eyelids?

2 doctor answers3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Andrew Shatz
Ophthalmology 26 years experience
A good option: Although there are several products on the market to clean eyelids, dilute baby shampoo on a wash cloth is one of the safest methods to use. First, have an eye doctor determine if you have blepharitis (inflammation and/or infection of the lids), then try gently rubbing the lids for about 1 minute with a wet washcloth that has baby shampoo on it. If the eyes remain or become more irritated, go back.

Selsun blue freckles: Selsun blue is not a treatment for freckles. Freckles will get lighter if they are not exposed to the sun for many weeks or months. With increased sun exposure, they will get darker. Selsun blue is often used to treat tinea versicolor, a yeast infetion, that commonly affects the chest and back.
