Not directly: Alzheimer's disease affects mainly higher brain function and not the area of brain related to control of blood pressure and breathing. Therefore, the cause of death is in most cases an infection for which alzheimer's disease predisposes people. Pneumonia is the most common cause of death in people with advanced alzheimer's disease.
