Infections.: Most Alzheimer's sufferers die from intercurrent infection or just a general shut down of the body. They can have aspiration pneumonia because their swallowing is not good. They forget to chew and swallow food , they refuse to eat, they may have sleep difficulties, they lose bladder and bowel control and they are prone to recurrent infections. Their general debility causes skin breakdowns.

Causes: Most commonly, become susceptible to an infection, and most commonly die from pneumonia, but due to age, co-morbidities can emerge, such as a heart attack or stroke, and this can cause demise also. Severe trauma may be another category.
