What do physicians suggest for scoliosis in adults?

Multiple treatments: Scoliosis in adults can be quite painful and debilitating. It is often treated initially with non-operative measures such as pain medications, physical therapy and postural exercises, spinal steroid injections. If these are ineffective, surgery can sometimes be performed to help relieve the pressure off the compressed nerves and help stabilize the abnormal spinal curvature.

Usually observe & : Usually observation & exercise. Weight control & smoking avoidance as well. Most curves do not progress once fully grown unless the curve is 50 degrees or more, then the risk of progression is 75% at 1 degree per year. Sometimes curves in the lower back lead to back pain & sometimes a new scoliosis can develop as a result of degenerative lumbar changes & bone density loss & treated as above.
